Jana Kramer Explains Why She Continued To Forgive Ex-Husband Mike Caussin Following Multiple Infidelities
Jana Kramer is speaking up about why she kept forgiving her ex-husband, Mike Caussin, despite his numerous infidelities during their marriage. Kramer joined the ladies of Red Table Talk for an episode discussing toxic forgiveness on Wednesday when she said that her desire to have a family helped her forgive Caussin repeatedly.
"There were red signs at first; he had cheated a month into dating, but I told myself, 'It's OK, I've cheated in previous relationships and didn't forgive myself for it, so I'm going to forgive you.' This is something I can pull off. We can develop together, "Kramer, who has a 6-year-old daughter, Jolie, and a 3-year-old son, Jace, with the former football player, said.
"And in the marriage, too, every time he cheated, first, second, third — however many times," she said.
Kramer claims she didn't notice anything was wrong with their kid until she was four months old.
"When my daughter was four months old, a girlfriend said to me, 'Something's not right with him,' and I could tell. I don't think I wanted to believe that "Kramer stated. "I'm driving, thinking, 'How would I know?' and she says, 'Look through the phone bills.' And it was while looking through the phone bill and dialing these numbers that I discovered the truth."
Nonetheless, Kramer, who married Caussin in 2015, attempted to mend their marriage to provide her children with the family she lacked as a youngster.
"I grew up in a broken household, and my whole issue was, I don't want my children to grow up in a broken house," she said emphatically. "I disliked Christmas because I had to divide it, which was stressful, and I prefer to have my children under one roof. And the thought of another woman parenting my child made me think, 'It's not going to happen.' I know every detail about her since she is my child. You don't get to do what you did and then take away my child."
The 38-year-old singer and actress stated that she offered Caussin the opportunity to understand what he was going through and return a "better guy." Still, the infidelity continued, with Caussin cheating on Kramer with over 13 women. It got to the point that Kramer claimed she couldn't forgive him anymore.
"Finally, when I caught him again last April, he said, 'Now I know I'll never do it again,' and I said, 'You know what, for that person, she's going to be very glad that you won't,' and that's when I left."
After six years of marriage, the couple divorced that month. Kramer and Caussin divorced in July 2021, three months after Kramer announced their separation.
"'The time has come.' As I try to make sense of a reality I never thought could happen again, those words have now become a reality "she said on Instagram. "I've fought you. I've loved a lot. I've made amends. I've put forth the effort. I've given everything I've had, and now I'm out of options."
"Please know that I still have a strong belief in marriage, love, and rebuilding. I simply cannot fight any longer. It's time to recover, "She went on. "Thank you for all of your love, heart, and support; in many respects, you have fought with me on this path, and for that I am grateful. I'll always encourage you to keep fighting the good fight, but you can't do it alone. "
Kramer talked up to ET months later about her heartbreak recovery.
"I don't believe it's broken. I'd say it's been put back together "Kramer described her heart at the time. "And I believe that things can still be lovely when they're put back together."
Kramer added, "I've learnt a lot, and I'm still learning, developing, and mending, but I absolutely see the silver lining."
