Early Life and Education

Jackie Chan was born in Hong Kong on April 7, 1954. His parents were Charles and Lee-Lee Chan, who were refugees from the Chinese Civil War. He was the only child of the couple and grew up in poverty. Chan had a difficult childhood and was often bullied by other children. He was sent to the China Drama Academy, a Peking Opera School, at the age of seven to study acting, singing, and martial arts. Chan graduated from the Academy in 1971.

Career

Chan made his film debut in the 1975 movie “Little Tiger of Canton”. He then starred in the successful “Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow” and “Drunken Master” movies. In 1978, Chan released his first Hollywood movie, “The Big Brawl”. It was a flop but helped him become more popular in the West. Chan continued to make a number of successful films in Hong Kong, including “Police Story”, “Armour of God”, and “Project A”. He also starred in “Rumble in the Bronx”, his first successful Hollywood film.

Awards and Accomplishments

Chan has won numerous awards throughout his career. He has been nominated for 10 Golden Horse Awards, winning three of them. He has also been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards and won an MTV Movie Award. He was also awarded an honorary Oscar in 2016. Chan has also set three Guinness World Records, including “Most Stunts by a Living Actor”.

Philanthropy

Chan has been involved in numerous philanthropic activities throughout his career. He established the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation in 1988 to help those in need. He has also donated millions of dollars to various causes, such as disaster relief and education. Chan has also donated his time and energy to numerous causes, including the World Wildlife Fund and the Red Cross.

Personal Life

Chan is married to Joan Lin and they have one son, Jaycee. In addition to his film career, Chan is also an accomplished singer and songwriter. He has released 20 albums and written over 100 songs. Chan is also a martial artist and holds a black belt in Hapkido.
