Early Life and Education
Jackie Chan was born in 1954 in Victoria Peak, Hong Kong. He was the son of Charles and Lee-Lee Chan. His parents were refugees from the Chinese Civil War, and they named him Chan Kong-sang, which means “born in Hong Kong.” As a child, Chan was sent to the China Drama Academy, a Peking Opera school, where he trained in martial arts and acrobatics. He also studied singing, dancing and drama. He worked hard and eventually became one of the Seven Little Fortunes, a group of the school’s most talented students.
Rise to Stardom
In 1976, Chan got his first major role in the movie New Fist of Fury.
